I TRIED STARBUCKS’ NEW BLENDED REFRESHERS—THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE

Starbucks is always dreaming up its next buzzy beverage drop, but the Seattle-based coffee giant seems to hit the gas when summer rolls around. Just this season alone, we scored s’mores-inspired sips, a brand-new Refresher, and an entire lineup of orange Creamsicle bevvies. And while that’s already more than enough to keep us happily caffeinated, the creative geniuses at Starbies aren’t done yet.

Today, Starbucks introduced an entirely new category: Blended Energy Refreshers.

The frozen twist on classic Energy Refreshers is customizable so you can choose light caffeine, a boost of caffeine, or no caffeine at all. Naturally, I ran straight to my local chain to experience the latest innovation for myself—and let’s just say Starbucks may have saved its best for last.

Blended Passionfruit Guava Lemonade Energy Refresher

First up on my tasting list was the Blended Passionfruit Guava Lemonade Energy Refresher—say that ten times fast. The flavor-packed sip blends passion fruit and guava with mango-pineapple-flavored pearls and a creamy frozen lemonade base. Paired together, it tastes like the type of drink you’d order poolside from a five-star resort. It’s smooth and refreshing (hence the name), but with a bold, vibrant twist and a satisfying slushy texture.

Blended Pink Energy Drink

The Pink Drink has officially entered its frozen era. If you’re a fan of the secret-menu-turned-mainstream-menu staple, add this to your order rotation STAT. It swaps the original iced format for a new (and dare I say, improved) smoothie style, but stays true to its identity: the sweet strawberry takes center stage, while the açai adds a hint of tartness and the coconut milk ties it all together for a creamy finish. All that and you get a jolt of caffeine.

Blended Mango Strawberry Lemonade Energy Refresher

The Blended Mango Strawberry Lemonade Energy Refresher is like a tropical smoothie-meets-classic lemonade stand sip with juicy sweetness and bright berry notes that keep the flavor profile light and bright. The tang from the lemonade creates a perfect balance, so it’s neither too sweet nor too tart. It’s safe to say it’s been living rent-free in my head since my first taste.

Blended Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade Energy Refresher

The mango gives this Blended Refresher a smooth tropical edge, but it’s the dragonfruit that really sets it apart from the rest of the lineup. It adds a tartness and almost candy-like fruitiness (without tasting artificial), and the lemonade base makes it downright thirst-quenching. Blended together, the flavors and slushy-like texture play off of each other so effortlessly for a vibrant and dangerously easy-to-finish new energy booster.

Blended Matcha Lemonade

I was a little biased when it came time to sip Blended Matcha Lemonade (namely, because I’m obsessed with any sort of matcha lemonade), but let me tell you: There’s a reason I’m reviewing this one last. It was my finale!

If your matcha latte and frozen lemonade had a summer fling, this would be the refreshing, crave-worthy result. The matcha’s earthy depth and the lemonade’s citrusy kick both coexist in the beverage without outshining the other. In fact, they work together beautifully—the lemonade to balance out the matcha’s grassy notes and the matcha to cut through some of the lemonade’s tartness. Maybe fling was the wrong word for it; they’re more like soulmates.
