Burger King wants to make sure your next Whopper arrives exactly as you ordered it. The chain is rolling out two new initiatives focused on improving the in-restaurant experience: A revamped manager role called the “Your Way Champion” and a new Whopper Guarantee that could earn customers a free burger if something goes wrong.
Both changes were inspired by feedback gathered through Burger King’s Listening Initiative, which launched four months ago and invited customers to call company President Tom Curtis directly with their thoughts about the brand. According to Burger King, thousands of guests responded, with many citing the same priorities: Consistency, order accuracy, and a more welcoming in-restaurant experience.
The Your Way Champion is Burger King’s answer to those concerns. The newly reimagined restaurant manager role is designed to place greater emphasis on the customer experience, from greeting guests to ensuring orders are prepared correctly.
These managers will also be available to step in when something does not go as planned. In other words, there will be someone in the restaurant whose job is to make sure your order is actually made your way.
The second initiative, which is particularly exciting, is the Whopper Guarantee. Burger King says that if a Whopper does not meet a customer’s expectations, the restaurant will remake it on the spot. Not only that, but the chain will then also offer that customer their next Whopper for free.
That means a burger with the wrong toppings, a freshness issue, or any other problem could result in both an immediate replacement and a free Whopper on a future visit, though Burger King notes that terms and restrictions apply.
The two initiatives are part of the chain’s broader effort to improve its restaurants and turn customer feedback into real-life changes guests will actually notice. Rather than introducing another limited-time topping or celebrity meal, Burger King is focusing on the basics: Accurate orders, better service, and Whoppers that live up to expectations (you know, the kind that comes as advertised).
And considering how frustrating it is to discover a wrong order after you’ve already left the drive-thru, having someone ready to fix it, plus a free Whopper waiting for you on your next visit, does not sound like a bad deal.
