There are few things more aggressively American than an apple pie. So with America’s 250th in the air, it was probably only a matter of time before somebody decided that pie alone was not enough and that what the people really needed was a fried pie. Enter, allegedly, McDonald’s.
According to a post from @Snackolator, the chain is set to bring back its fried apple pie starting June 22. While the fried version is available, the current baked apple pie is apparently taking a little break—but judging by the response, almost nobody seems upset about that arrangement. The fried pie has long had a near-mythical reputation among McDonald’s people, and while the baked one has its fans, this one falls under a very different category.
The comments are very clear evidence of that. “WHY NOT JUST MAKE IT PERMANENT AGAIN?” one person demanded, while another added, “Make it permanent! I don't go to McDonald's to feel good about myself.” Some fans were less angry and more emotional, like the person who wrote, “I COULD CRY IVE BEEN CRAVING THIS FOR SO LONG,” while another begged, “NEVER GO AWAY AGAINNNNNN!!!!!”
A few people also used the moment to remind everyone that some locations never lost the good stuff. “Hawaii always had fried apple pies at McDonalds 😂,” one commenter pointed out, and a few took the opportunity to expand the campaign entirely: “Bring back the old-school fried CHERRY pies!”
Somewhere, the forefathers are nodding approvingly over this one.
