MICHELIN ADDS THREE AUSTIN HOTELS TO ITS TEXAS HOTEL GUIDE

As part of Michelin’s big Texas announcement, the guide added three Austin hotels to its already-existing list of selected hotels throughout the state this week. Those include the Commodore Perry Estate in the Hancock neighborhood, Soho House Austin in Travis Heights, and the Hotel Van Zandt in downtown.

This Texas list of hotels — bookable through Michelin’s website — isn’t to be confused with Michelin’s Keys, the actual awards given to the guide’s selected hotels (similar to its restaurant stars, Bib Gourmands, and Green Stars). Generally, the website has always included hotel recommendations around the world, but it announced the Key awards starting in 2024, with the first American guide published in April.

Michelin’s blog post announcing these new Texas hotel additions describes the Commodore Perry Estate as being “the very picture of modern boutique luxury.” The hotel includes on-site restaurant Lutie’s, run by co-chefs Bradley Nicholson and Susana Querejazu who also oversees the entire space’s food and drink services.

Of the Soho House’s Austin location, the guide wrote that it’s the “picture-perfect example of a city whose recent boom is largely fueled by the blossoming of its local creative industries.” Unlike some of its other locations, the Austin Soho House doesn’t include public-facing restaurants.

And then, finally for the Hotel Van Zandt, it explained how it “fits right” into the Austin landscape with “polished and imposing public spaces” and “plenty of local color.” The Rainey Street hotel includes on-site restaurant Geraldine’s, Cafe 605, and the forthcoming lobby bar Brass Poppy.

The three hotels join other Austin hotels on Michelin’s website, such as the Line Austin, Hotel Magdalena, South Congress Hotel, and Fairmont Austin’s gold experience.

Michelin’s Texas restaurant guide will be published in late 2024. If y’all have predictions for which Austin restaurants will be recognized, let Eater Austin know through this survey.
