STARBUCKS IS DROPPING FREE REUSABLE CUP SLEEVES & FANS ARE MARKING THEIR CALENDARS: ‘YES YES YESS’

Big news for the overcaffeinated: your Starbucks cup is getting a whole new look in honor of the World Cup—and it’s the perfect way to cheer on the United States and stay awake to actually catch the West Coast games.

On Thursday, June 11, customers who order a bevvy of any size, including brewed coffee and tea, will receive a limited-edition soccer cup sleeve inspired by the team captain’s signature armband. “The red, white, and blue sleeve celebrates global fandom and the unifying power of the game,” the Seattle-based coffee giant said in a statement.

Starbucks is also hosting the cup sleeve giveaway in several other markets, including England and Scotland, but with the same one-day-only limitation and with a “while supplies last” caveat. You might want to preemptively clear your schedule for tomorrow!

Fans are (rightfully so!) obsessed. “This is perfect! I'll be there, probably multiple throughout the day. Lol 😂 🙌✅,” one user gushed on Instagram. “I love this! I will definitely be there tomorrow to get this,” someone else wrote.

Some customers, however, were disappointed that the U.S. sleeve was the only option for local shops. “WE WANT TO COLLECT THE COUNTRIES! NOT JUST THE US STARBUCKS!” one commented. “Are Mexico sleeves only available in Mexico? 😭” another said. “Why not have the other countries too,” a third person added.

It’s not the only World Cup celebration in the works, either. The chain is queuing up surprises for the entire tournament across all 30 markets: Expect fan gatherings and more giveaways.

Oh, and remember that Bearista Cup everyone freaked out about last year!? Well, it’s back with a soccer-inspired makeover and available online for purchase if you’re a Starbucks Rewards Reserve tier member. You would have to have earned 2,500 Stars in 12 months to qualify, but in the worst-case scenario, you can travel to Canada, Latin America, and the Asia Pacific region, where the limited-edition cups will also be available in coffeehouses.

And honestly, it is an investment. ICYMI, the Bearista cups were reselling for hundreds of dollars on eBay last year. Buy a few, and you’ll recoup your plane ticket price—and then some.
