Lights Down Stars Up (LDSU) proudly applauds Edmonton City Council's bold decision to bring Edmonton's lighting into better focus.
Members of the Royal Astronomical Society (RASC) put forth recommendations with regards to Edmonton's poor lighting practice and scored big with approval from the city council and Transportation dept. A plan for an urban star park to include the Telus World of Science (TWoS) grounds will put Edmonton on the road-map to better lighting. To follow, new development light standards are to be reviewed and upgrades to light efficient neighborhoods are sure to follow!
Light pollution abatement (in Edmonton) is now on the table and we may yet bask in the savings both economically as well as ecologically. Please see the news section to read some of the local media results.
