EATER HOUSTON IS LOOKING FOR A TEMPORARY EDITOR. IS IT YOU?

Eater is looking for an experienced reporter and editor to temporarily lead its Houston city site, one of its marquee publications. The Eater Houston temporary editor guides day-to-day coverage of the site and its overall sensibility, including its mix of news stories, service-focused maps and guides, and features. Stories should not all focus on one area or subject: the editor should have the range to cover the bar and hospitality industries, local policy changes, and labor and social justice stories. The role also includes assigning, editing, and packaging freelance pieces; taking ownership of high-touch service maps like the Eater 38; and programming and strategizing for social media and the Eater Houston newsletter.

Ask yourself: Do you fanatically follow every opening, closing, chef change, and trend in Space City’s always-changing dining landscape? Are you excited not just by food and drink, but how food and drink intersect with politics, identity, and culture? Do you want to help shape the way our audience understands food and culture in Houston?

If all of the above sounds exciting to you, check out the Vox Media job posting and follow the instructions. This is a temporary, full-time, union position represented by the Writers Guild of America, East. This role is benefits-eligible.
